About Psychology One-to-One :

I have worked within the mental health field since 1996 and qualified with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2004 from the University of Newcastle-upon- Tyne. With over twenty years’ experience, my passion for promoting recovery remains active and I care deeply about helping people to learn how to alleviate their suffering and bring about change. I founded Psychology One-to-One in order to provide a prompt, high quality, face-to-face, clinical psychology assessment and treatment service.

Areas of Expertise :

I offer a safe and comfortable space for adults who are experiencing psychological difficulties, emotional distress, mental health issues and relationship difficulties. I am experienced in offering both specific time-limited psychological interventions and longer-term psychological therapy for an extensive range of difficulties.

Therapeutic Approaches :

As an integrative clinical psychologist, I draw upon a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches so that treatment can be personalised to meet people’s needs effectively. These approaches include (but are not limited to) cognitive-behavioural, compassion-focused, mindfulness, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, systemic, psychodynamic, dialectical behavioural, cognitive-analytical, trauma-focused. It is my experience that creating an atmosphere based on empathy, trust and compassion facilitates the process of being able to find a shared understanding of difficulties and identifying the key factors that are underlying and maintaining distress. Understanding these factors plays a powerful role in enabling people to begin to change unhelpful ways of thinking, feeling and behaving, make positive changes and to move forward with their lives.

Treatment offered for (but not limited to) the following :

Abuse, adjustment, addiction, anger, anxiety, bipolar disorder, body image/dysmorphia, borderline personality disorder, bullying, childhood trauma, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic illness, chronic pain, coping skills, depression, dissociative disorders, domestic abuse, eating disorders, emotional regulation, family conflict, grief/bereavement/loss, hoarding, life transitions, obesity, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic, personality issues, phobias, physical health, post-traumatic stress, relationship problems, self-esteem, self-harm, sexuality, sexual trauma, shame, sleep problems, stress and burnout, suicidal thinking, weight loss surgery support, weight management, work-related stress.
